Independence Pass is a shortcut between Vail and Leadville, it's closed in the winter because of snow. I'm not sure if this is on the trip up the pass or the trip down the pass. Other than the scenery, what I remember the most about this drive over the pass were the bicyclists with their sleeping bags pedaling up the east side of the pass heading towards Vail.
